Victory. Went to Nj a while ago, as some opponauts remembered. Racked up $100 in long distance fees, because Canada, and also my gps broke.
I called and whined to the cell phone company (Bell) and my overage's was reduced to $38, and I removed something stupid that costs $7/mo for the rest of my contract. I then paid the $98 I owed before they could change their mind.
That's a lot better.
Tl;DR summary: If you get a ridiculous long distance charge while roaming, moan and complain, it will be reduced.

It was actually a terrible trip in many ways, however meeting up with fellow oppo members was great. They were all very nice, and very respectful of the fact that I didn't have time to pick them up anything for their bbq.

Many people in New Jersey were very nice to me, but it still wasn't a great trip.

Honestly I'm more surprised by the first part of the sentence. I wouldn't say people in NJ are the nicest. And I was serious about the stereotypes, the more people that think the state is complete shit, the less people we have crowding the crowded.
But hey, at least you saved some munnayyyyyy

I got all the charges removed for incoming calls. That was more or less my goal, I was like in my head: "I am only paying half of the overages"...and so it was.
